Andy rides high with dynamic Mercedes-Benz Vito

At work he sells motorbike clothing and accessories, and at play he’s a keen cyclist – when it comes to four wheels, though, Andy Milligan reckons his new Mercedes-Benz Vito SPORT is way ahead of the competition.

Supplied by eStar Truck & Van, Andy’s 119 CDI is finished in smart Cavansite Blue metallic paintwork colour-coded bumpers and side skirts, and eye-catching stripe graphics. Striking 19-inch alloy wheels shod with low-profile tyres, roof rails and LED head and tail lamps, all of which come as standard with the SPORT trimline, complete the look.

The van employs a range-topping 190 hp, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which drives the rear wheels through a slick-shifting 9G-TRONIC PLUS nine-speed automatic transmission.

Its long L2 body is fitted with a second row of seats, accessed through glazed sliding doors on both sides, so is able to carry up to five people in comfort and style, while still offering a practical cargo area.

Account Manager Andy lives in Cheshire, with wife Tina and their dogs Molly, a Labrador, and Luna, a Spanish Podenco hunting hound which the couple took in from a rescue sanctuary.

“I’m using the Vito SPORT for work but it’s my own, not a ‘company car’, so was very much a personal choice,” said Account Manager Andy. “My last vehicle was a luxury SUV, but the Vito is every bit as comfortable, looks great on the road, and is a far more practical option for both business and pleasure.”

On weekdays Andy uses his van to visit customers, among them motorcycle dealerships, workshops and accessories retailers, across the North West of England and into the Midlands and North Wales. Outside work, it’s the perfect transport for days out, either with Tina or the dogs, or to participate in cycle races and events – the vehicle offers all the space he needs to carry his road bikes.

“I owned a Vito Sport several years ago and am delighted now to be back behind the wheel of another,” enthused Andy. “It’s just so nice to drive, with excellent seats and superb visibility from the commanding driving position.

“The engine has bags of pulling power and the automatic transmission is beautifully smooth, while the comfort and ride quality are great. The drive is more akin to that of a luxury car, yet my new Mercedes-Benz also has the spacious and easily accessed cargo area of a commercial vehicle. It’s the best of both worlds.”

eStar Truck & van is the newest member of the Mercedes-Benz Vans network, and marks its first anniversary with the brand in September. “The Dealer’s service was excellent,” recalled Andy.

“Sales Executive Ryan Lockett was really attentive, paid attention to everything I was looking for, and found the perfect vehicle. It was available from stock, so the turnaround after I placed my order was incredibly quick and easy.

“Ryan delivered the vehicle in person and took the time to provide a comprehensive overview of all its features and functions. I definitely made the right choice and couldn’t be happier.”

Andy’s Vito SPORT is the subject of a flexible and cost-effective Agility personal contract plan from Mercedes-Benz Finance. Agility relies on a Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) and offers all the benefits of conventional hire purchase with a balloon payment – including low monthly repayments – but provides customers with a variety of options at the end of the term.

Like all new Mercedes-Benz vans, the Vito SPORT is backed by a three-year, unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty and came with MobiloVan cover, which includes free, round-the-clock emergency roadside assistance.
